EP018 | From Stuck to Unstoppable: 7 Business Mindset Shifts to Unlock Exponential Growth

The Power of Business Mindset Shifts

Does your business feel stuck in a rut lately? Like you’re spinning your wheels, unable to breakthrough to the next level of growth and fulfillment?

If so, you’re definitely not alone. Many passionate entrepreneurs and business owners hit frustrating plateaus where they struggle to move past feelings of stagnation and uncertainty.

But what if I told you the real solution doesn’t lie in marketing tactics or complex business strategies alone? The key to unlocking exponential growth could be in mastering a shift in your mindset.

In this blog post, here are 7 profound business mindset shifts that can help you transition from feeling “stuck” to becoming truly “unstoppable” in your entrepreneurial journey.

These aren’t just generic pieces of advice – they’re the very mindset breakthroughs I’ve used to power my own business to new heights, and the same strategies I teach my high-level coaching clients.

So if you’re ready to unlock your true potential and start building the freedom-focused, purpose-driven business you deserve, read on. It’s time to move from invisible to invincible.

#1 Redefine Your Vision

The first mindset shift is all about getting crystal clear on an inspiring, motivating vision for your business and life. Because the truth is, you can’t create what you can’t conceive.

When was the last time you took a step back to really envision your ideal future state? Too often, we get caught up in the day-to-day grind and lose sight of the big picture. But having a clear, compelling vision is essential for providing direction and activating your innate drive to achieve.

Start by carving out some dedicated time for reflection. Grab a journal and paint a vivid picture of what your business and lifestyle will look like 3-5 years from now. What specific goals have you accomplished? What does a “typical” day look like? How are you spending your time, energy, and resources?

The more detailed you can get, the better. Engage all of your senses – what do you see, hear, feel, and even smell in this future reality? The objective is to make it so real that you can practically reach out and touch it.

Once you’ve captured that inspiring vision, the next step is to connect it to your deeper purpose and values. How does this future state align with your core beliefs about the positive impact you want to create in the world? When you can tap into that sense of meaning and significance, it becomes a far more powerful driving force.

#2 Challenge Limiting Beliefs

Now that you’ve got a clear, compelling vision, it’s time to identify and challenge the mental blocks that could be holding you back from achieving it.

We all have deeply ingrained beliefs, assumptions, and stories running through our subconscious minds. And many of those beliefs are actually disempowering and limiting – things like “I’m not good enough,” “My clients can’t afford to pay me more,” or “I’m too old to be successful online.”

The first step is to simply start noticing when those limiting thoughts arise. Maybe it’s when you’re about to raise your prices, or before hitting “publish” on an important piece of content. Pause and ask yourself: Is this belief actually serving me and my business goals? Or is it just an old, unhelpful mental program I’ve been running on autopilot?

From there, you can begin the process of reframing those limiting beliefs with more empowering alternatives. For example, instead of “I can’t raise my rates,” try telling yourself “My services are incredibly valuable, and my clients will be happy to invest in working with me.”

This is a practice that takes time and consistency, but the payoff is huge. As you systematically challenge and replace your disempowering thought patterns, you’ll unlock a newfound sense of confidence, possibility, and motivation. And that’s the mindset fuel you need to take your business to the next level.

#3 Cultivate an Abundance Mindset

Speaking of mindset fuel, the next shift is all about cultivating an abundance mentality. Because the truth is, if you’re constantly focused on what you lack or what could go wrong, you’ll always feel constricted and fearful.

Compare that to an abundance mindset, where you approach life and business from a place of profound possibility, generosity, and expansiveness. When you can truly internalize the belief that there is more than enough to go around – whether that’s in terms of clients, revenue, connections, or resources – it unlocks a wellspring of creative problem-solving and strategic risk-taking.

One simple practice to start developing an abundance mindset is to shift your attention to everything you’re grateful for, rather than what’s missing. Each day, take a few moments to jot down 3-5 things you’re appreciative of in your business and personal life. It could be as simple as “the sunshine outside my window” or as significant as “the 5-figure client I landed last month.”

Over time, this trains your brain to scan for the positives instead of the negatives. And it has a remarkable way of attracting even more abundance your way. When you expect good things to happen, they tend to manifest.

#4 Align with Your Values

Another crucial mindset shift is ensuring that your business is fully aligned with your core personal and professional values. Because no matter how profitable or “successful” your enterprise might appear on the outside, if it’s not congruent with what truly matters to you, it will never feel truly fulfilling.

Take some time for deep self-reflection here. What are your most important values – things like integrity, creativity, growth, or freedom? How are those values currently being expressed (or not) in the way you run your business? Are there certain offerings, processes, or even client relationships that feel out of alignment?

When you can build a business that’s in full integrity with your values, it unlocks a whole new level of purpose, passion, and sustainable growth. You’ll attract the right customers, make better strategic decisions, and show up with an unshakeable commitment to your mission.

Plus, intricately aligning your business with your values is a powerful way to differentiate yourself in a crowded marketplace. Customers and clients will feel drawn to your authentic, principled approach.

#5 Set Intentional Goals

The fifth mindset shift is about moving beyond generic goal-setting and into a much more intentional, strategic framework for defining meaningful objectives.

Too often, we set goals that are either too vague (“make more money”) or unrealistic (“double my revenue in 6 months”). But when you get specific, measurable, and grounded in your deeper purpose, that’s when the real magic happens.

I like to use the SMART goal-setting model: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. So instead of a broad goal like “expand my customer base,” you might say “Attract 50 new paying customers to my email list by December 31st.” Then, once you have the goals set, start breathing life into them and imagine what it will feel like when they’re real.

From there, you can reverse-engineer that goal into bite-sized, actionable steps. What do you need to do each year, six-months, month, week and day to make steady progress? What resources or support do you need to put in place? Get hyper-granular in your planning. I like the outline from the book The One Thing when it comes to mapping out your goals to make them real.

The key is to create a strategic roadmap that’s firmly aligned with your overarching vision. That way, every step you take is moving you closer to your desired future, rather than leaving you feeling scattered or directionless.

#6 Prioritize Self-Care

Another crucial mindset shift is making your own health, well-being, and self-care a top priority in your business. Because let’s be honest – no matter how visionary your plans or ambitious your goals, if you’re constantly running on empty, you’ll never be able to show up and perform at your best.

I learned this the hard way in my own entrepreneurial journey. I used to treat self-care as an afterthought, prioritizing work and productivity over adequate rest, healthy habits, and stress management. And it came back to bite me – I ended up dealing with burnout, brain fog, and even some scary health issues.

So if there’s one shift I can’t emphasize enough, it’s this: Your business cannot succeed sustainably if you don’t take care of yourself first. That means establishing firm boundaries, building in daily routines that nourish your mind and body, and ruthlessly protecting your time and energy.

When you do that, something remarkable happens. Your creativity flourishes, your resilience increases, and your ability to tackle challenges with clarity and calm expands exponentially. Self-care isn’t a luxury – it’s an essential investment in your business growth.

#7 Expand Your Network

The final mindset shift is all about the power of connection, community, and collaboration. Because as transformative as these inner mindset shifts can be, you don’t have to (and shouldn’t) go it alone in your entrepreneurial journey.

Building a thriving network of colleagues, partners, and potential customers is one of the most powerful ways to unlock new opportunities and accelerate your growth. When you can authentically tap into the collective wisdom, resources, and support of like-minded business owners, it’s a game-changer.

Start by identifying the types of connections that could benefit your business the most – whether that’s industry peers, complementary service providers, potential strategic alliances, or even your dream clients. Then focus on nurturing those relationships in a genuine, value-driven way. How can you be of service to them? What insights or connections can you offer?

Remember, a rising tide lifts all ships. By expanding your network and creating win-win collaborations, you can achieve new levels of visibility, credibility, and business expansion that simply aren’t possible when you’re working in isolation.

There you have it – the 7 profound mindset shifts that can help you transition from feeling “stuck” to becoming truly “unstoppable” in your business.

I know it can feel overwhelming to tackle all of these at once. The key is to start small, focusing on one or two shifts that feel most urgent or exciting to you right now. Consistent, incremental progress is far more sustainable than trying to overhaul your entire mindset overnight.

And remember, you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. If you’re ready to start unlocking your true potential and building the freedom-focused, purpose-driven business you deserve, then let’s chat.

[00:00:57] Together we’ll uncover the secrets, mental shifts and business strategies that turn hidden gems into undeniable forces. So hit that subscribe button and let’s dive in.

[00:01:09] If you keep looking at the, same problem without a solution in sight or tired of just hearing the same issues running around your head and just feeling overwhelmed or anxious or like you don’t belong working in where you’re at or you’re just feeling trapped or stuck and wondering how to pivot or what you can do or what options are available when honestly all you want to do is burn it all down and walk away like you’re in a cool music video.

[00:01:40] If so, that’s what we’re talking about because I have been working on this for a while for myself and so today we’re talking about seven ways to move from feeling stuck to building momentum and expansion and towards your goals to get the results you want. One of the things that I’ve really spent a lot of time with over the past, Oh, I don’t know, five plus years has been studying the psychology of motivation, looking at energy and looking at how we can change our situation in order to start getting the results we want.

[00:02:17] A lot of us have patterns running through our head and programs that we work on every day that help decide how we move through the world. And those patterns get reinforced day after day as we start, as we go through our day. Those programs or strategies that we run through our head in terms of how we approach things, a lot of them have become just second nature and they feel natural.

[00:02:42] So that’s how we do it because that’s how we’ve always done it.

[00:02:46] And so what starts to be important is when you’re looking at how you’re feeling stuck, Is taking a look around and really looking at what you can do. And so these seven small shifts that we’re gonna talk about today are things that you can do and I know them firsthand.

[00:03:05] When I was dealing the last couple of years, I did, I moved from canabis marketing to broaden that scope. I was looking at what was working for my students, for my clients. After writing the book, Digital Etiquette for Dummies, I was just spread too thin. And so I started looking at what was working for my clients and students and what wasn’t.

[00:03:28] And some of what I found was that it wasn’t necessarily the marketing of their business. It wasn’t the business strategies that they were putting in place or the tactical things. The success of their business wasn’t going to hinge on whether or not they ran ads. As a business owner and as that coach or consultant or what entrepreneur CEO or whatever you call yourself, you are at the root of your business.

[00:03:58] And so it becomes important to look at these shifts to look at these things because how you show up in your business and how you show up for your clients is going to dictate how they receive you, what they pay you and what they think of you. And a lot of people are honestly hiding.

[00:04:18] This is for you, particularly Gen X and Millennial friends, if you’re feeling stuck, if you’re looking this way, if you’re only seeing dead ends, this There is a world of possibilities, but it starts with you and your beliefs. So there are seven shifts we’re going to talk about today.

[00:04:33] And trust me when I say I’ve worked through every single one of them to show up as my best self, to show up for my clients as my best self and to be able to help you show up as well.

[00:04:46] The first thing that we’re going to talk about to building and creating momentum and expansion in your business, we’re going to start with your vision.

[00:04:55] Get clear on an inspiring vision for your business and honestly for your life. In order to do that, you want to take some time and really look at creating a clear vision that’ll help drive you forward. What are you working towards? What is that thing that you want?

[00:05:18] What does that life look like? What is that moment when you know you have that success or that fulfillment that you crave when you have your business? That joy, that ease. What does that look like? and you want to get crystal clear. Here’s a thing that you want to do. Pull out your journal, make notes, write it down, create the scene, create it so that it’s active as if you’re in there.

[00:05:47] You’re sitting there and you’re watching, your bank account or you’re on vacation or whatever that thing is for you, write it down and make it feel as if you’re in it. So make it feel present. It is this date, whatever future date you’re looking for. And I am doing X. Create that ideal future state that you want.

[00:06:13] And the more you can create it and the more details you can add, what does it look like? What does it sound like? What does it feel like? You can start creating that vision and that reality. and connecting your business to it. How does your business help support that vision? What does that vision entail and mean for your business?

[00:06:37] And how does that align with your larger life? Is your business running itself because you have an amazing team in place while you’re on vacation somewhere? Are you running it because you’re excited about being on stage and you’re speaking and you’re generating publicity for your business? What Ever your ideal looks like, write it down.

[00:07:02] Create that vision that excites you. What does it look like, feel like, sound like there? Taste. Write it down. Write it so you believe it, write it so it feels amazing. That’s how you get started, having that clear picture. for your business and your life that you want.

[00:07:24] Number two, identify and eliminate your limiting beliefs. A lot of us have mental blocks that could be holding you back. Sometimes you know them and they’ve been there a long time and sometimes they pop up as you grow and as you expand your business, new things will come up. Common limiting beliefs that I hear from business owners.

[00:07:47] I’m not good enough. What if people find out that I don’t know anything or that I’m a fraud? I can’t raise my prices. My clients can’t afford to pay me. I’m too old to show up on video. I’m too old to do these things, to promote my business. Whatever. Those limiting things are?

[00:08:10] Start by noticing them. The first thing to do is notice it when it comes up. If you hear yourself saying, I can’t, I don’t, that’s not me, I’m not a Ask yourself if it’s a limiting belief. What if the opposite were true? I can’t do sales? What if you could? It starts by noticing those patterns, noticing those beliefs, noticing those statements that you’re telling yourself.

[00:08:38] What is that story? And you can do this through, as they come up, you can write them down. If you start journaling on what you want and what you look for and journaling to support that vision of your future. What needs to be true in order to make that happen? Who do you need to be in order to make that happen?

[00:09:04] And does your current beliefs support that? So if your belief, if your vision is a multimillion dollar business and your current belief about your day, is that you don’t want to market yourself, or your clients can’t afford to pay you, or that you’re too old to do something. How are you going to make that vision anywhere near a reality?

[00:09:28] In order to do that, we need to understand what’s holding us back and what those beliefs are. And then you can start to reframe them. Like I said, what if the opposite was true? What if you Instead of believing that you’re bad at sales, what if you believe you’re good at sales? What if you decide to learn how to be good at sales?

[00:09:52] That’s going to get you one step closer. It’s understanding those limiting beliefs. And finding ways to reframe them, challenge them. And there’s also other things that we can do as well. So if this is something that you are dealing with, send me a message. We can talk about that. Because there are ways to help eliminate them.

[00:10:13] Number three. is how to cultivate an abundance mindset. Alright, cause here’s the thing. If you’re looking only that as the worst case scenario, or like coming from that place of scarcity, you’re not going to be able to access what you want. You’re going to be struggling.

[00:10:37] And this was a really hard one for me to grasp because honestly, I came, I grew up in a family where it was like very much, this is all we have.

[00:10:46] We can’t spend anything. We don’t have it. We can’t afford it. We can’t afford this. We can’t afford that. We can’t do this. We can’t do that. And there were exceptions to that, but it was very much that scarcity mindset of we can’t do this because. which was also a limiting belief. But the difference is when you look at life from abundance, when you look at it from there’s so much available and so much to offer.

[00:11:14] It really starts to change your perspective on things. I do, I do this now because I just started again, but I do outrigger canoe paddling. And we paddle out into the ocean off the coast of Southern California. And when you’re in the middle of the ocean. I mean, last night in practice it looked like we were just paddling directly into the sunset.

[00:11:37] The abundance of space around us, the abundance of drops of water in that ocean. There is abundance where we find it and where we look. We have to look for it. Starting to learn how to find those places of abundance. Joy, friends, what are you, what do you have that’s an abundance in your life? Pay attention to that.

[00:12:07] Where our attention goes, our energy flows. And if you’re going to be paying attention to what you don’t have, you’re going to keep feeling frustrated because you don’t have. But if you start to pay attention with what’s possible, with what the, what abundance and what things there are in your life, it’s going to change how you feel and it’s going to change your mind for positive and expansiveness and for the better.

[00:12:37] It also works to reprogram your subconscious mind to expect success and find that opportunity.

[00:12:45] And, okay, I need a side note here for a second because I grew up in a very hippie beach town in Northern California. And when people would talk about energy or shift mindset and all of those things, I just started rolling my eyes because I didn’t believe it and I didn’t know.

[00:13:06] So the irony is that, in all of my life, I’ve now circled back around and I’m like, Oh. Absolutely, I’m going to journal for to notice everything that’s abundance around me. And if I have to start with the leaves on the trees outside, I will start with the leaves on the trees outside because there are many.

[00:13:25] And if I need to start with how lucky I am to be surrounded, growing up surrounded by grains of sand and redwood trees in the forest, I will write about that. I will talk about it and I will notice it. But, It is ironic that all those years of rolling my eyes as a little snotty teenager when people started to talk about energy or mindset and the importance, and now here I am.

[00:13:52] It’s funny how life works, isn’t it?

[00:13:55] So number four, I want to talk about your values. One shift you can make is really looking and understanding your values and what they are.. What are your personal values and your professional values? And then second, at a subconscious level, not what you want them to be, but what are they inside?

[00:14:13] Because your values at the subconscious level, that’s what’s driving your actions. If you are saying that your goal is to earn a bazillion dollars, but your value, your first value is hard work and your second, your core values focus on family and Hard work and security that’s not necessarily going to be aligned with a bazillion dollars So what are your understanding?

[00:14:42] What’s the most important things that are driving your decisions? It’s going to make a world of difference. I Had a client that was one of her values was her Ability to travel and be independent. She has her business because she could travel the world and she does and She doesn’t just talk about it.

[00:15:01] She does it. And when we went through her values the very next day, she got this amazing job offer and that job offer would have required her to be in one place in an office all year long. And because we had just gone through her values, she literally said she held it up next to each other and was like, this doesn’t even match my number two value.

[00:15:26] I can’t take this job because I won’t be happy. Or if you hear from people that wanted to set up something on a monthly program or a weekly program where they have to be in the same place at the same time, as a business owner, is that really what you want? How can you do that? And if you do, great. If it aligns with your values, absolutely.

[00:15:44] But if one of your values is freedom or flexibility or something along those lines or adventure or travel or whatever it is, that’s not going to align. So you’re not going to be happy doing that after a while and your subconscious is going to start procrastinating and start coming up with reasons why you don’t need to.

[00:16:00] It’s really understanding and ensuring that your business model, your offerings, your marketing, everything is in line with your values. Because it can make a big difference in your overall joy and that feeling of not being stuck and that feeling of motivation and expansion and momentum. and it’ll help you attract the right customers and clients who share your values.

[00:16:23] number five. You’ve created this fabulous vision of your future and you’re like, this is what I want. I want it to look like that. What are some of the things you can do? What are some of the goals you can do? to start creating a framework for that to help you get there. So you can start like turning that vision into goals.

[00:16:45] And obviously smart goal setting is something that’s really important is making your goals specific and measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound so they’re specific. But say your vision for your what you want is three years away. So three years from now I want to have a second home in Europe where I can sit and work from and blah, blah, blah, whatever that is.

[00:17:10] Set your goal. Make it smart. And not only make it smart, but fill it with the energy that you felt when you created your vision. That same energy and excitement put it into your goals. into that SMART goal, those SMART goals you’re creating, and then look at breaking it down into actionable steps. I really found the book The One Thing to be really helpful in this, as creating a goal, and he was talking about creating a three year goal, and then breaking it down by years, and then breaking that year down by six months, and then monthly, and then looking at the week, and then looking at the day, and what is the one thing that you need to do today?

[00:17:55] That will ladder up and help you make that goal, that big goal. It’s all tied to why, it’s all tied to your purpose, your vision, your values. It all locks together. take the time to set those goals and set them with intention and a framework that you can start following. And doing that will help you stay aligned, with your goals and stay on track with your goals and help build that momentum that’s going to carry you forward.

[00:18:25] Because if you’re having a day where you’re feeling stuck or a week or a month where you’re feeling stuck but you know the one thing that you need to do every day that’s going to make a difference, what’s your one thing to do that day? We can do one thing during a day. So what is that? What’s that one thing you can do today?

[00:18:45] Number six, health and prioritizing self care. Your health matters. I know that a lot of business owners and influencers and people will tell you this, right?

[00:18:58] Like put your oxygen mask on first, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I listened to it. I heard it. I saw it. I read it and I ignored it. Do not ignore this one because not only did I ignore it, When I was busy gaining weight at a really rapid pace and I went to my doctor, even though I eat really well, work out all those things. It doesn’t matter. When I was, when I went to my doctor and said, I don’t feel well, I’m gaining weight. My doctor looked at me and said, you’re just at that age.

[00:19:34] And I was so demoralized and angry that I walked out of there . If the doctor didn’t bother to care, why should I? I’m busy and I got back into working on my business and working in my business. And it did not help anything because fast forward a couple months later, I got COVID, continued gaining a bunch of weight and ended up having to go on a really strict regimen, working with a bunch of doctors that are out of network because I waited so long and felt bad for so long that when it took time to prioritize my health and prioritize my self care because I was dealing with things like overwhelm and brain fog and not feeling well and probably an element of depression, all of these things that I’m talking about today helped me.

[00:20:25] I’ve worked through all of them in the past few years. And that’s why I really felt compelled to make this video and this podcast episode because your health care matters. You matter. So especially when you have a business. So understand the habits and boundaries you need to prevent burnout, boost creativity and show up.

[00:20:53] In the right energy and mindset for your business. You’re excited, right? You’ve created this business. You are excited about it. You’re passionate about it. You created your business with purpose and passion for fulfillment and whatever else you’re looking for out of your business. But in order to make those things happen, in order to do the things

[00:21:18] that I’ve talked about already. You need to prioritize your self care. Find the routine and the habits that work for you. Put the boundaries in place that will protect those habits and make the most of them. Trust me on this one. It could not be more important. And I am now back to being an advocate for myself to make sure that I protect my health and that I protect my boundaries and my healthy habits.

[00:21:55] And so should you. And if this is an area that you want to talk about, or you are feeling like you need help with boundaries, I’m happy to chat. I’m not a healthcare coach, I’m not a healthcare professional, but I’ve been through it firsthand, and I saw the impact on my business when I can barely get out of bed some days.

[00:22:18] So don’t let yourself get to that point.

[00:22:20] I don’t want to end on that lecture about healthcare and your self care and how much I care about you taking care of yourself. I want to make sure we’re ending on a positive note.

[00:22:32] The seventh thing you can do, the seventh shift you can make to grow your business is expand your community and your network.

[00:22:41] Building a community. of colleagues and connections and potential partners and customers and clients can be so beneficial when it’s done authentically, aligned with your values, because having those connections and collaborations gives you that personal connection. It gives you that emotional connection, that energetic connection, and it can help move mountains with your business.

[00:23:10] There’s collaborations that can make a difference and there’s networking opportunities and speaking opportunities. There’s so many opportunities that can come out of taking the time to expand your network and build your community. That I really appreciate. I don’t even know how to begin describing the rush of excitement that comes whenever I get to interview someone new on the podcast that comes from when I meet new people and I’m excited to talk about what I do and I’m really excited to learn about what they do because how can we help each other?

[00:23:47] Because ultimately when we’re looking at freedom and flexibility and all of the types of fulfillment we want from our business. Part of that’s people fulfillment for a lot of us, expanding our network, building that community, creating that idea that a rising tide lifts all ships. Because when you can start to unlock, oh my gosh, I said that and it wasn’t even prompted by AI.

[00:24:12] When you can start to unlock that power of connections and collaborations, it just can become even more exciting. and motivating to work in your business and on your business. So when we’ve gone through, that’s my list of seven shifts that you can make in your business in order to start building that momentum and recreating that momentum and excitement and passion in your business.
